An incredible journey for lovers of mountains and regions far from civilization. We will hike and ride jeeps across Tajikistan, visit the border with Afghanistan, and resume our trip in Kyrgyzstan. We will trek in the picturesque Fann mountains with a caravan of donkeys, climb stunning passes, travel one of the highest roads in the world, see remote villages and enjoy the sweetest melons and watermelons.

  • Day 1
Arrival in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. Trip to the Artuch climbing camp, which is in the heart of the Fann mountains (about 6 hours on the way).
  • Day 2
In the morning we load our backpacks on donkeys, and walk to Chukurak lake. The trail leads through the Chukaruq pass (3150 m above sea level), which offers a beautiful view of the whole system of the Kulikalonsky lakes. We will spend the night in tents near the lake. For those who wish, we will conduct a training on night photography. Walking distance: 9 km, going up: 900 m, going down: 350 m.
  • Day 3
In the morning we go to the Dushakha lake, which is located under the very wall of Maria-Miralli. It rises above the valley for more than two thousand meters. Further, we will walk to Alaudin pass (3700 meters above sea level). From here we will enjoy the most beautiful landscape - rocky peaks of the Castle, Polytechnic and Adamats, numerous glaciers, and Alaudin lakes of incredible aquamarine shades below. After a descent we spend the night in tents on the shore of Alaudin lake. Walking distance: 8 km, going up: 800 m, going down: 1000 m.
  • Day 4
We are going to explore the surrounding mountains. The first stop is the amazing Lake Piala, with a very powerful waterfall. The goal of the day is to reach the Muddy lakes (altitude 3500 meters above sea level) at the foot of Chimtarga, the highest mountain of the Fann mountains. The lakes have got their name because of glacial origin. The water in them is gray. We spend the night in the same tents near the lake. Walking distance: 5 km, going up: 800 m, going down: 800 m.
  • Day 5
We descend to the Vertical camp, which is only one kilometer away. We take a bus to Dushanbe (about 5 hours on the way). We will visit the famous local tea house Rohat and spend the night in hotel.

In the morning we take the Pamir highway and in a few hours reach Kulyab, the third largest city in Tajikistan. On the way we will visit the medieval castle of Hulbuk. Further our path leads along the border with Afghanistan. We ride narrow serpentines, along the mighty Panj river. We spend the night in the guesthouse in the village of Kalayhumb. This day we will travel for 370 km, spending 12 hours on the way, including stops.
  • Day 7
In the morning we go to Khorog, the largest city of Pamir region. The road goes further along the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, so we will have a unique opportunity to watch the life of remote Tajik and Afghan villages.
