We will cycle in the most pristine country in Asia - Kyrgyzstan. The famous Issyk-Kul lake and hot springs. Stunning Son-kol lake, and deserted Suusamyr valley. These are just some of the points that we will visit. We will spend nights in tents and yurts, meet friendly local nomads living in very remote areas, and enjoy fresh trout and other delicious local produce.

  • Day 1
We arrive in Bishkek and check into a hotel. We rent bicycles and gear and a special vehicle takes us and our bicycles to the village of Arashan (about half an hour on the way). There we jump on our bicycles and begin the 37-kilometer ride between the Alamedin and Alaarcha rivers. First, we pass by the Tatyr ski base to Chunkurchak - one of the smallest, but the most beautiful gorges of the Tian Shan. Then we go to the national bio-reserve of rare species of tulips. Boundless spaces framed by mountains, yurts, where locals live in the summer, herds of grazing cows and sheep ... What a views! After the pass we descend to the Oruu-Sai gorge (2100 meters above sea level). We reach the village of Kashka-Suu. By car we return to Bishkek (about half an hour on the way). Day distance on bicycles: 37 km.
  • Day 2
In the morning, we leave Bishkek by car to Kara-Balty, and then to the south, to the Too-Ashuu pass (3586 meters above sea level). Every now and then our car dives into tunnels that protect the road from avalanches and rock falls. This is one of the most dangerous passes in the entire Central Asian region. About two hours on the way to the pass, we jump on bicycles and descend to Susamyr valley. We are passing the picturesque villages of Kozhomkul and Kyzyl-Suu. We spend the night in the Kokomeren river valley. Day distance on bicycles: 72 km.
  • Day 3
The car takes us to the village of Jangi-Arik (approximately 1 hour on the way). There we change to bicycles and cycle up to the Tuz-Ashuu pass. We admire magical snow-capped mountains and go down to the mountain lake Song Kol. This lake of incredible blue color is located at an altitude of 3016 meters above sea level! 200 days a year the lake is covered with snow and ice. Then, it is almost impossible to get to it. We spend the night in a yurt near the lake. This is how local nomads live! Day distance on bicycles: 38 km.
  • Day 4
In the morning we go around the lake from north to south and cycle to the Moldo-Ashuu pass (3346 meters above sea level). From the top of the pass a wonderful view opens up - gorges, high mountains with ice caps, slopes covered with huge spruces. Incredible! We descend to the south along the bank of the River Kurtka to the village of Aktal. From alpine meadows we come to the forest. We spend the night in tents on the banks of the Naryn River. Day distance on bicycles: 95 km
  • Day 5
In the morning we the car takes us to the MELS Pass (3420). After about an hour on the way, we change to bicycles and begin to descend to the mysterious Tash-Rabat fortress (3600). At first, historians believed that in the 15th century a Buddhist monastery was located here. Then came the version of the Christian monastery. The fact is that later it was used as a caravanserai (hotel) on the Great Silk Road. Lost among the pristine nature, not far from the villages near the border with China, Tash-Rabat looks harsh, monumental and inaccessible. We will spend the night in tents near its walls. Day distance on bicycles: 71 km.
  • Day 6
In the morning, we take cars to the village of Tash-Bashat (approximately 2 hours on the way). There we change to bicycles and cycle along the Eki-Naryn gorge. Here two rivers flow into deep canyons, cutting through a wide flat valley, over which snow ridges rise. The view is fascinating! We drive through the National Park with mountain goats and deer. A picturesque dirt road follows the curves of the gorge. We spend the night on the bank of the river Small Naryn in the Eki-Naryn gorge. Day distance on bicycles: 32 km.
  • Day 7
In the morning we ride bikes along the Maliy Naryn and Bolgart rivers. This is a spacious valley, with the view of the tall snow covered peaks. Occasionally we see the yurt camps of Kyrgyz nomads. Standing in the middle of a flat valley, round mountains suspiciously resemble volcanoes. We cycle further and observe the magnificent gorges and valleys framed by snow-capped peaks. We spend the night near the thermal mineral springs at an altitude of 2390 meters above sea level. Day distance on bicycles: 70 km.
  • Day 8
In the morning we ride bicycles along the Jilu-Suu river to the Tosor pass (altitude 3893 m). We get down to the famous Issyk-Kul lake. This is the second largest saline lake in the world! Translated from Kyrgyz, the name means "warm lake" - it is located between high mountains covered with eternal snow, but the lake itself never freezes. If there is time, we will stop at the Skazka ("Fairy tale") canyon to admire the chimeric figures hewn from red rocks by the winds. Then we change to a car and drive along Issyk-Kul Lake to Ak-Sai village (approximately 1 hour on the way). We spend the night on the shores of Issyk-Kul. Day distance on bicycles: 68 km
  • Day 9
In the morning we ride bicycles along the shore of Issyk-Kul to Salt Lake. After just 15 minutes we arrive to the shpre and rest. Then we go to Bishkek by car (about 3-4 hours on the way), leave bicycles, get to the airport and fly back home.
