All iconic landmarks of India and safari in the most famous national parks of Equatorial Africa. We will visit the Golden Temple of the Sikhs, Taj Mahal and the place of Buddha's enlightenment, explore Kolkata and Jaipur. In Africa, we will see unique animals, climb the volcano, raft on the White Nile, see Kivu lake and enjoy the beaches.

  • Day 1
    Arrival in Delhi. Checking into a hotel in Pahar Ganj district. We will enjoy a walk in the government district of Secretariat and get acquainted with local cuisine.
  • Day 2
    During this day we will be visiting the most interesting landmarks of Delhi: Baháí Lotus Temple, the grand Red Fort, old Darya Ganj district and the main Indian mosque - Jama Masjid of the Mughal. We will also explore the famous Lodi gardens and see the light show in the oldest Delhi fort - Purana Qila.
  • Day 3-4
    In the morning we take a train to Amritsar, the capital of Punjab state (6-hours trip). After checking into a hotel in the center, we will take an evening walk in the magnificent Golden Temple, the main shrine of the Sikhs. Next morning we ride rickshaws to the famous flag-raising ceremony at the Indian-Pakistan border at the village of Wagah. Train to Jaipur.
  • Day 5-7
    Arrival in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, checking into a hotel in Hatroi district. During our stay in the famous Pink city we will ride elephants to the grand Amer Fort, visit Raj Palace, marvel at the iconic Wind Palace and Water Palace. We will also explore Jaipur's famous bazaars, and enjoy lip smacking food. We will also visit famous movie theater for a latest Bollywood hit. Free day.
  • Day 8
    In the morning we take a train to Agra (4 hours trip), where we visit iconic Taj Mahal and the less known but very impressive Agra Fort. Night train to Varanasi.
  • Day 9-10
    Arrival in Varanasi, checking into a hotel near the Ganges river. In the evening we take a boat trip to the place of cremation and daily Hindu ceremony. Rickshaw trip to a near by village of Sarnath – the place of the first sermon of Buddha Shakyamuni. At the end of our of stay we take a train to Gaya, Bihar state (5 hours trip) and then board rickshaws for a short ride to to the near by Bodhgaya, where we will check into a guest house.
  • Day 11-12
    At dawn we walk to the Bodhi Tree temple, the holy Buddhist site where Buddha Shakyamuni attained Enlightenment. Later we explore the town and enjoy free time. Next day we take a 2-hour bus trip to the town of Rajgir and visit the famous Gridhrakuta mountain where Buddha preached. We will then go to the nearby village of Pawapuri with its marvelous marble temple where Mahavira Vardhamana - the founder of Jainism, was cremated. In Pawapuri we also visit the local archeological museum Nalanda. In the evening we travel back to Gaya and departure to Kolkata by a night train.
  • Day 13
    Arrival in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal state, checking into a hotel on the historical Sadder Street. We visit the oldest museum in India - History Museum which boasts unique collection of Buddhist 2300 years old sculpture. We also explore Victoria Memorial Hall, bustling historic city center with its unique flower market, and visit temples Dakshineswar Kali and Belur Math.
  • Day 14-15
    Flight to Kigali. Arrival in Kigali in the morning. A walk through the safest and fast growing capital of Africa. We’ll look at the city from a bird's eye view and visit the famous sad memorial dedicated to the genocide in Rwanda - one of the largest in the world after the Holocaust. After that – driving through the land of a thousand hills (about 3-4 hours) and crossing the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Evening check-in at a hotel in the city of Goma, located on the shore of the endless Lake Kivu - one of the African Great Lakes.
  • Day 16
    Around six in the morning, with the guarded convoy of the Virunga Park, we’ll leave for a meeting with unique oriental mountain gorillas, which are on the verge of extinction. We’ll have a 40 minutes to several hours walk in forest trails in search of gorillas, we can watch them at arm's length for an hour. Return to Goma. Walk around the city, tasting the dishes of Congolese cuisine in the cafe, where local people dine. You’ll have an opportunity to visit remote residential areas and a green volcanic lake.
  • Day 17
    Early departure to the start of the trek to the volcano in a rented car. We’ll do a five-hour ascent to a height of 3,740 meters along the slopes of Nyiragongo volcano. Setting up a camp right at the volcanic crater. At night, we’ll see one of the most exciting shows - the largest open lava lake in the world.
  • Day 18
    Early in the morning - descent to the foot of the volcano and going back in the rented car. In 1.5 hours, we’ll pass through Goma, cross the border with Rwanda and check-in at hotel in the town of Gisenyi. Gisenyi is a small and cozy town with beaches at Lake Kivu. We’ll rest on the beaches, can go for kayaking, cycling.
  • Day 19
    Early departure to the border with Uganda (2 hours drive), transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (around 7 hours). We’ll drive through picturesque hills, tea plantations and, by the evening, we’ll cross the territory of the park to stay overnight at hotel in the nearby town of Kasese.
  • Day 20
    Morning walk in the northern part of the park. At the background of the picturesque peaks of the Rwenzori mountains, we’ll see different species of antelopes, hippos, buffaloes, families of elephants and lions, and look at flocks of flamingos. In the afternoon, we’ll have a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel, which connects two large lakes and runs through the whole park. At this time, the animals go down to the watering place and can be seen even closer. We might spend the night in a lodge, lost in a remote part of the park.
  • Day 21
    Morning car ride in the part of the park, which is known for a unique phenomenon - here you can see lions on fig trees, resting or looking out for prey in tall grass. Also, we’ll see hyenas, warthogs, elephants and other animals. After lunch - transfer to the city of Fort Portal (about 3 hours) and checking into a camp on the shore of a crater lake near the Kibale National Park.
  • Day 22
    Walk through the evergreen forest in the Kibale National Park which boasts 12 species of primates and the largest in Uganda population of chimpanzees. With the guides assistance, we’ll find a family of chimpanzees to watch their games and behavior. 5.5 hour transfer and check-in at hotel in the town of Hoima.
  • Day 23
    Early morning - transfer to Ziwa Sanctuary (3.5 hours) and a morning walk in search of white rhinos. Ziwa Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda, where you can meet them in wild nature. Transfer to the village of Jinja, check-in at hotel.
  • Day 24
    A test of courage - rafting with experienced instructors on the waters of the White Nile! We can choose the steepness of river rapids ourselves. Those who wish can raft on a safe raft that does not capsize. Also, we’ll watch the instructors rafting on one of the most dangerous whirlpools in the world! Setting in a camp near the Nile, in tents with full beds. Sunset on the river bank.
  • Day 25
    Transfer to the city of Entebbe (3.5 hours). Flight back home.

Is this trip for you?

This trip is of average physical grade. It includes walks in cities, towns and villages, safari game drives and walking up the volcano for 5 hours. We will move around in buses, trains, rickshaws, boats. The itinerary also includes two flights and two night train rides in comfortable class with sleeping benches and air conditioning. (Due to India’s heavily overbooked trains the class in some trips might be upgraded or downgraded.)

Accommodation in double/twin rooms of tourist class hotels. In national parks we will stay in comfortable campings with beds, showers and other amenities. Almost everywhere we will have hot water and wi fi internet. One night will be spent in tents on the slope of the volcano.

Citizens of almost all countries need a visa to enter India. Visa can be obtained online or in the embassy prior to the trip. It costs $103.

Visas to Rwanda, Congo and Uganda can be obtained online.

We will be entering Rwanda twice, therefore we will need two visas, each costs $30.

Visa to DR Congo costs $105.

Visa to Uganda costs $50.
