A wonderful opportunity to celebrate winter holidays on exotic islands. We will celebrate Christmas in modern Singapore, then plunge into natural beauties of Indonesia and celebrate New Year on a pristine uninhabited island. We will enjoy Bunaken, famous for its unique underwater world and fairytale like Togeans. In Tana Toraja we will participate in one of the most ancient ceremonies and observe unique traditions. We will also conquer Bromo volcano, explore crater of Ijen volcano and discover magical Bali.
  • Day 1
    Arrival in Singapore. Checking into a hotel.
  • Day 2-3
    During our two days in Singapore we will visit Chinatown with its temples and unforgettable dining experience, explore the famous Singapore zoo, known as one of the best in the world, and discover Singapore National Museum. We will also see the city from the top of the famous Marina bay sands hotel, visit man-made futuristic Gardens by the bay and enjoy beautiful Botanical gardens. Christmas will be celebrated watching the famous evening lights show on Singapore’s trademark seafront.
  • Day 4-5
    Flight to Manado, a city on the northern tip of Sulawesi. We take speedboats to a very unusual beach and enjoy diving or snorkeling on the island of Bunaken, famous for its corals, fish and sharks. Night in a local guesthouse.
  • Day 6
    In the morning we are back to Manado where we visit world famous Tomohon market, where not only fruit and vegetables are being sold, but exotic animals as well. We will also visit Tangkoko national park, with its tarsiers and other animals. Night in a local hotel.
  • Day 7
    Morning trip to Gorontalo by jeeps or a minivan (6-7 hours on the way). Night ferry to Vacai, Togean islands.
  • Day 8-10
    From Vacai we take speed boats to the nearby island of Kadidiri where we check into bungalows on the beach. We celebrate New Year on a nearby uninhibited island. Waters around Kadidiri are famous for being home to 96% of all existing coral species, so diving or snorkeling is a must here. We will also take a boat trip to the volcanic island of Una-Una, go dolphin watching, swim in waterfalls, enjoy virgin beaches and fishing.
  • Day 11
    After lunch we ride jeeps or minivan on a difficult mountain road to central Sulawesi. We stop for dinner in Tentena, near Lake Poso, Indonesia's third-largest lake. From here we proceed to Rantepao, spending a night in the bus.
  • Day 12-13
    Arrival in Rantepao - the capital of Tana Toraja district which preserved its ancient and unusual traditions. After checking into a local hotel we will visit at least one of the famous local funerals, which last for several days and are filled with ceremonial animal slaying, dancing and delicious food. We will also visit very unusual local cemeteries and explore villages. At the end of our stay we take a night bus to Makassar.
  • Day 14
    Arrival in Makassar, the capital of Sulawesi state. From here we take a bus to Probolinggo (4 hours) and check into a hotel near Bromo volcano.
  • Day 15
    Early in the morning we ride jeeps to Bromo volcano, where we will have to walk or ride horses for 1 hour to reach the crater. We enjoy beautiful sunrise, explore active volcano and its “dead zone”. From here we come to the heavenly Madakaripura waterfalls and then take a bus (2 hours) to Bondowoso where we check into a hotel near Ijen volcano.
  • Day 16
    Early in the morning we start our hike to Ijen volcano, where we will explore the crater of the “poisonous lake”. Every night hundreds of miners extract sulfur from this lake. After lunch we take a bus and then a ferry to Bali (5-6 hours). On our way to Ubud we visit a beautiful beach near Munduk waterfalls and a wonderful temple in the middle of Batur lake. In the evening we arrive in Ubud and check into bungalows.
  • Day 17
    Morning rafting on picturesque Bali river. In the afternoon we explore Ubud and visit monkey park.
  • Day 18
    In the morning we take a bus to Kuta, visiting lovely coffee plantations and a wonderful beach with caves on the way. We enjoy sunset views and watch Bali’s traditional fire dance - Kecak. Arrival in Kuta, checking into a hotel in the center, farewell dinner.
  • Day 19
    Last half day on Bali. Evening flight to Singapore. Flight from Singapore back home.

Is this trip for you?

This trip is dynamic, of above average difficulty level. It consists of long walks in cities and towns, and easy hikes in national parks. It also includes two night bus rides (sitting bus), one night ferry trip (sitting ferry) and several trips on jeeps or minivans up to 7 hours long, with sightseeing on the way. We will also be moving around in speedboats and do rafting on Bali river. Accommodation in hotels with basic facilities and bungalows, some of them will have hot water and wi fi internet.

Price of the trip includes:

  • All domestic flights;
  • Accommodation in double and triple rooms of guesthouses, hotels with basic facilities and bungalows during the trip;
  • All transportation, including buses, ferries, specially rented jeeps and public transportation of all kinds;
  • Food on Bunaken island (days 4-5) and on Togean islands (days 8-10);
  • Professional guide services.

To be paid separately:

  • Flight to Singapore and from Singapore back home;
  • Medical insurance (mandatory);
  • Entrance tickets to temples, parks and other places of interest, rafting (up to $200 for everything);
  • Diving ($30 per dive or PADI Open Water diving courses which includes 5 dives, exam and a license - $380);
  • Snorkeling ($8-10 for equipment per day);
  • Visa to Indonesia ($50);
  • Airport fees in Indonesia ($35);
  • Food ($8 - 18 per person per day).
