Tour description

This trip combines two very different islands of Indonesia. We start in Bali where we do rafting, walk across rice terraces, swim in waterfalls in the jungle and visit unique ancient temples. Then we fly to Togean islands with their unique underwater world and deserted beaches. Finally, we move to Manado to swim with sea turtles near Bunaken island and see exotic tarsiers and other wild animals in Tangkoko national park.

Is this trip for you?

This trip is of average difficulty. Expect long city walks, short hikes in the jungle, long rides in hired minivans visiting places of interest on the way, and one overnight ferry trip from Wakai to Gorontalo. Our itinerary also includes three domestic flights. In Bali and Manado we will stay in traditional homestays or hotels with hot water, AC and wi-fi. In the remote Togean islands, we will stay in beach bungalows without hot water or internet.

Price of the trip includes:

Three domestic flights: Bali - Makassar, Makassar - Luwuk and Gorontalo - Manado;
Accommodation in double and triple rooms in hotels and guesthouses during the entire trip;
All transportation, including buses, hired vehicles, a ferry and airport transfers;
Rafting on Bali;
Professional guiding services.

To be paid separately:

Flight to Bali and back home from Manado;
Medical insurance (mandatory);
Entry tickets to temples, parks and other places of interest ($100-120);
Food ($8-15 per person per day).

Tour itinerary

Day 1

Morning arrival in Bali. Transfer to Pemuteran beach (4 hours) and checking into a hotel. Swimming and relaxing on a black sand beach.

Day 2-4

A short hike to Sekumpul waterfall in the northwest of the island, a visit to Ulun Danu Bratan temple, a trip to Jatiluwih, the largest rice terraces on the island. Morning walk to the sacred monkey forest in Ubud. Ten-kilometer rafting on the fairy-tale river Ayung. We will also visit the palace of the rulers of Ubud and explore the city famous for its artists and craftsmen. Water Temple of Gunung Kawi Sebatu near Ubud. A trip to a hidden beach in the south of the island and sunset at the edge of a 70-meter rock.

Day 5

Flight with a transfer to the city of Luwuk in the south-east of the island of Sulawesi. Transfer to the port city of Ampana (5 hours). Check in at the hotel by the sea.
